Also known as the Clark Freeport Economic Zone, Clark is a redevelopment of a former US airbase located in the Pampanga province. A suburb of Angeles city, Clark is almost as large as Singapore, at over 33,000ha. Ideally located between Singapore, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Clark offers a range of activities and sights for the business and leisure travelers who flock to the region.
The Clark area in Pampanga covers the cities of Angeles and Mabalacat and the town of Porac while parts of the area in Tarlac include the towns of Capas and Bamban, Tarlac. The CFEZ is divided into two areas, the Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ) and the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ). The New Clark City is part of the Clark Special Economic Zone. The CFZ covers the area of the former United States Air Force facility, Clark Air Base. Most of which of this air base was converted to the Clark International Airport and some remained under the control of the Philippine Air Force.
Clark offers an interesting glimpse into life on a US airbase, including a charming animal cemetery for military working dogs. Museums, duty-free shopping, and water and adventure parks provide nearby entertainment, while for travelers with more time, both Mount Pinatubo and Philippine’s capital Manila are easily within driving reach.
