Ms Margaret Heng is the Executive Director of the Singapore Hotel Association. She has been with the Association for more than 35 years. Ms Heng works closely with the SHA Board to implement directions and policies set by the Board. Her responsibilities include working closely with the membership to implement projects relating to manpower, productivity, marketing, image building, human resource training and development, service quality, sustainability, fire safety and security, conducting research, making representations, and dissemination of information. In addition, Ms Heng also liaises closely with government departments, statutory boards and other associations and private organizations on behalf of the membership. Ms Heng was awarded the John Harris Fellowship by Rotary International in 1999 for her contribution to the success of the first ever Rotary International Congress to be held inSingapore. In 2014, she was awarded the SPRING Singapore Merit Award for her contributions to the Singapore Standardisation Programme. In 2007, Ms Heng was conferred the Public Service Medal Award by the President of Singapore for her contribution to the National Fire and Emergency Preparedness Council(NFEC). In 2017, Ms Heng was conferred the Public Service Star (BBM) Award by the President of Singapore in recognition of her contributions to the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs. On 26 November 2019, Ms Heng was named Executive of the Year for Talent Development and Engagement at the Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards. On 7 September 2020, Ms Heng was conferred the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award2020 at the World Gourmet Summit (WGS). Ms Heng is currently the Chairperson of the following committees:• National Excellent Service Award (EXSA)• Hotel Services Technical Committee, Enterprise Singapore. She is also a Justice of Peace appointed by the President of Singapore. Ms Heng is also actively involved in several other councils and committees. Ms Heng graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts (Administration and Financial Studies). In 1990, she completed her Masters in Human Resource Development from the George Washington University, USA.
